Message from AVI’s CEO on COVID-19
At its core, AVI is driven by an ethos that puts people first. From the volunteers we mobilise to staff in partner organisations and our own staff based in 29 countries right around the world.
That is why, faced with the rapidly evolving pandemic of COVID-19, their wellbeing is our number one priority.
We are currently channelling all of our efforts into monitoring and preparing a coordinated response to the risks presented by COVID-19, both domestically and abroad.
As part of AVI’s Pandemic Plan, a Crisis Management Team has been formed, meeting frequently to ensure our response can adapt as fast as this dynamic situation unfolds.
This includes closely monitoring advice provided by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Department of Health.
AVI is also working closely with International SOS to implement our response and any arrangements made will align with the WHO’s pandemic response.
We understand this is a stressful time, filled with great uncertainty. That is why now, more than ever, we must be understanding towards and take great care of one and other.
Kind regards,
Paul Bird
AVI CEO
