Emergency Medicine Day in Honiara

Australian volunteers Emergency Nurse Ruth Cavill and Dr Aurelia Stapleton, working as Emergency Nurse Advisor and Emergency Medicine Intern Supervisor at Honiara’s National Referral Hospital, joined in the Emergency Department celebrations for Emergency Medicine Day. This year’s slogan, Your Safety Our Priority, reflects the hard work and attention given to delivering timely and effective care to emergency presentations by all emergency department personnel.

AVI has worked in partnership with the Australian government, the National Referral Hospital and the Australian College of Emergency Medicine for almost 10 years. Since 2014, the partnership has helped place five emergency medicine intern supervisors, two emergency medicine consultants and four emergency nurse advisors, to work with the staff of the NRH ED, to support and improve emergency care for the people of the Solomon Islands.
